Changes to concessionary travel on Island Line Train services
Following a policy amendment by the Isle of Wight Council, there is to be a change in the entitlement of council-funded free rail passes on the Island Line. From 1st May 2011, the concessionary rail passes will be available only to passengers with a disability.
However, residents can apply for a discounted resident-only railcard which entitles 40% discount on Island Line Trains fares after 10am Monday to Friday, anytime at weekends and public holidays. The card costs only £5 and is valid for 12 months. Cards are available with proof of Isle of Wight residency from ticket offices at Ryde Esplanade and Shanklin stations.
