Issue 5: Service from Camberley

The following answer was published in Issue 5 (Jul/Aug 2004) of e-motion magazine.
Question

The introduction of new rolling stock has certainly improved travel on South West Trains, but when are you going to improve (or restore) a better service to and from Camberley to London Waterloo?

Answer

There are no current plans to provide through off-peak services between Camberley and London Waterloo as this would mean running additional trains between Waterloo and Ascot, or diverting one of the half-hourly Waterloo to Reading services to Guildford instead - reducing the service offered elsewhere. However, our timetable change planned for December 2004 will make some changes at peak times and will include a later through service to Camberley. During off-peak, we plan to increase the frequency of trains to halfhourly between Ascot and Guildford, giving more regular interchanges on to London Waterloo trains than currently exist.
