Why I am unable to use my Oystercard on the majority of my South West Trains journeys?
The only oyster card that cannot be used on South West Trains is the pre pay type. This is because it needs a fully closed system with manned ticket gates at all entrances and exits. Unfortunately to install such a system on our network would cost a significant amount of money. This is something that we do not have the funding for at this time. Any other type of Oyster card can be used on our services.
