Why do you shut platform gates at Waterloo before a scheduled train departure time?
If trains leave Waterloo late, no matter how small the delay, it affects other services. The general policy is that train doors close up to 30 seconds before departure in order that the trains can get away on time. For the same reason information about train departures at Waterloo are removed from the screens up to one minute before departure. We therefore decided to close the gates up to 60 seconds before departure time, once the information has been removed from the screen.
