Why is there no air conditioning on your Class 455 trains?
Air-conditioning was not installed as part of the 455 refurbishment because the frequent stopping pattern would have made it ineffective in its operation. Electric fans do provide ventilation and each carriage has four large fans, which suck fresh air from outside and circulate it into the carriage. The 455s also have many opening windows and during refurbishment, they are all being restored to their original design.
