Why is there a disused track between Putney and Wandsworth?
This is the former East Putney “up” line (towards London), removed prior to privatisation more than 10 years ago. The “down” line (away from London) was converted at the same time to have reversible operation. It is now used primarily to carry empty trains and as a diversionary route during engineering works.
