Marwell Zoo
Colden Common (01962 777407). Marwell's 200 species of exotic residents include giraffes, hippos, penguins, rhinos, tigers and zebras. Catch the Stagecoach 69 from the bus station (a 15-minute walk from the train station) on Sundays only (0845 1210180), or the Solent Blue Line 8 from Eastleigh (023 8061 8233).
Alresford
This pretty English village is famous for its art galleries, boutiques and watercress. Catch the Stagecoach 64 from City Road, a few minutes walk from Winchester station, hourly (every two hours Sundays) (0845 1210180).
