What is the Training Centre of Excellence?
In October, South West Trains opened its first Training Centres of Excellence at Clapham Junction and Fratton Traincare Depots, where all Train Presentation staff will complete a week-long induction course, attend refresher days and have the opportunity to study for a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ). They are the first centres of their kind in the country and will reap many positive benefits in terms of staff’s professionalism, motivation and standard of work.
What do you do with the waste you collect?
The volume of rubbish left on the trains is huge, about 35 to 40 tons per week! We would like to recycle a lot of our waste, but first indications are that this is so labour intensive that time constraints would make it virtually impossible to achieve. However, we are continuing to look at ways this can be achieved without adversely affecting service delivery.
How can customers help keep the trains clean?
We urge customers to put their litter in the on-board bins wherever possible, or to take it away with them. If they have to leave newspapers behind, it’s helpful if they are neatly folded rather than strewn across the seats. If you see graffiti or the results of vandalism in your carriage, contact the guard or a member of the station staff so we can deal with the situation immediately.
What should customers do if they have a complaint?
We welcome feedback from customers. If you do have something to say, contact the South West Trains’ Customer Service Centre on 0845 6000 650 or speak to the guard or station staff.
