Extra ticket machines across the network

An additional 25 self-service ticket machines have been installed at stations with the greatest demand, including London Waterloo, Clapham Junction, Basingstoke, Guildford and Richmond. Waterloo now has 28 self-service machines, the largest number at any UK station.

Increasingly popular, they issue more than 50% of the total tickets sold at the station, including 7 Day Season Tickets, discounted tickets with Railcards and fares for hundreds of popular UK destinations. A further 150 machines will be installed across our network this year so that every mainline station has at least one machine.

We also plan to improve the machine’s capabilities over the next two years. Even simpler to use, they will issue tickets for future days’ travel and accept Solo, Electron and Diners cards.

Finally, we are in discussions with Transport for London on the possibility of accepting Oyster pay as you go on our network within London. We are also working on the future implementation of our own smartcard ticketing.
