Planned engineering work
Network Rail needs to do engineering work to maintain and improve the rail network. Much of this work is done at weekends and during holiday periods, but some work also needs to be done overnight during the week.
Buses will replace train services where lines are closed for work to take place. We may also have to alter train services over a wider area.
Please use the calendar to the right and click on a date to get information about planned engineering work for that day.
Summer Holidays
Throughout the summer until the end of August (Late Summer Holiday weekend) there is no major engineering work planned on our main lines to Weymouth, Portsmouth, and Salisbury / "West of England".
Some work will still be necessary overnight and some early Sunday mornings, also on some suburban routes. More details will be posted on the "Calendar" pages as they become available.

Work to allow the latest container trains full access to Southampton Docks will take place from Saturday 5 December to Sunday 10 January. On Monday to Friday a reduced train service will run through the tunnel and a special timetable will apply.
From Sunday 27 December to Monday 4 January (Christmas / New Year holiday period) Southampton Tunnel will be closed completely. All train services in the Southampton area will be altered and some services will be replaced by buses for parts of their journeys.
