TravelSafe Officers work in conjunction with the British Transport Police across our network. There are currently 56 TravelSafe Officers, based at Clapham Junction, Richmond, Guildford, Basingstoke, Portsmouth, Bournemouth and Weymouth, with added support from BTP Constables at Clapham Junction, Southampton and Portsmouth who work as TravelSafe Co-ordinators.

The TravelSafe Officer's main role is the patrolling of stations and trains in order to offer reassurance, advice and support, thereby providing a safe and secure environment for both staff and customers. Other responsibilities include dealing with anti-social behaviour and vandalism (including graffiti), reporting incidents to the relevant authorities, and carrying out anti-vandalism and trespass patrols with the British Transport Police and Network Rail. Some TravelSafe Officers also assist South West Trains' Youth Education Manager, visiting schools to give talks on railway safety.
