What have we been doing since the last web chat?
South West Trains management team would like to thank you for your feedback at the web chat that took place on 25th February 2010. Since then, we have improved on some of the aspects you highlighted. Here are a few examples:
What is South West Trains doing to make travel easier and quicker from Hersham station? There are queues to buy tickets in the peak periods.
We have recruited a new part time member of staff to work at Hersham station in direct response to passengers' comments. This new employee has recently completed South West Trains’ training course and is now working at the station during the ticket office opening hours from 06.50 to 12.00 Mondays to Fridays, 06.50 to 13.40 on Saturdays and 0810 to 15.40 on Sundays.
When and what is South West Trains going to do about my station at Honiton? It looks tired and not very welcoming!
Honiton station will benefit from South West Trains’ and the Department for Transport’s funding of a station refurbishment program. The improvement works are now under way and include the relocation of the station entrance in order to improve the interchange, new enlarged booking hall, new ticket office including lower counter, new toilet facilities and new retail unit. Moreover the station will also benefit from new or replaced waiting shelters and canopies.
The works are due for completion in Spring 2011.
South West Trains is currently conducting refurbishment work at 10 other stations with many more to come.
Can we have more cycle racks at Fratton station?
South West Trains is committed to encouraging cycling to and from our stations. Fratton station will soon benefit from an additional 82 cycle spaces to be installed by the end of 2010. The total number of cycle spaces will then be 122.
Together with the Department for Transport, other partners and some local authorities, South West Trains will be delivering over 1000 extra cycle spaces throughout our network by the end of 2010.
Can you slightly amend the timetable for 0512 Guildford to Waterloo service so passengers can connect with a train from Reading?
South West Trains has proposed the amendment to the 0512 service to allow it to connect with passengers from Reading. We are pleased to confirm that, subject to confirmation from Network Rail, this will be implemented from December 2010 when our timetable changes.
Could you get ticket vending machines to also sell train Plus Bus tickets?
South West Trains is confident we will be able to provide an integrated ticket, available from ticket machines, offering train+bus tickets. We are currently testing an updated software version to allow our ticket vending machines to be able to deliver Plus Bus tickets. The testing and development period is ongoing and we cannot at this stage provide a date for the launch of this service.
