About us

South West Trains operates around 1,600 trains a day on a network in the South and South West England. We serve more than 200 stations and employ around 4,500 people.

The South West Trains network includes routes through Hampshire, Surrey, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Devon, Somerset, and Greater London, serving a mixture of commuters and longer-distance travellers.

London Waterloo is also home to London Underground, serving the Northern, Bakerloo, Waterloo & City and Jubilee lines. Passengers can also connect easily to London Waterloo East for onward travel to Kent, south-east London and East Sussex.

The registered company of which South West Trains is a part is Stagecoach South Western Trains Limited, which is registered in England and Wales. Registered number: 5599788. Registered office: Friars Bridge Court, 41-45 Blackfriars Road, London SE1 8NZ.

Stagecoach South Western is part of Stagecoach Group, an international transport group with bus and rail operations in the UK and North America. Registered Office: 10 Dunkeld Road, Perth PH1 5TW, Scotland. Registered in Scotland. Registered number: 100764

Island Line, which runs train services on the Isle of Wight, is also operated under Stagecoach South Western Trains Limited.

In April 2012 South West Trains and infrastructure operator Network Rail launch a new alliance with the aim of delivering better rail services in the south and south-west of England. A senior joint management team has responsibility for both trains and track on the route operating out of London Waterloo in a first for the UK rail industry.
