Great days out by train

There’s a lot more to the South West coast than sandy beaches. Hop off the train at Brockenhurst Station to embark on an adventure through one of the UK’s most exciting National Parks. The New Forest is the ideal destination for relaxing and unwinding in the great outdoors. Take a walk through its beautiful scenery, hire a bike or explore the forest on horseback.

2. New Forest Museum

The New Forest Museum is packed full of displays and activities about the New Forest National Park. Discover why ponies are kept on the Forest and why we shouldn’t feed them! See the Beaulieu Road pony sales yard display and soak up the atmosphere of the sales yard by listening to the sounds of a typical trading day.

3. Lymington

A beautiful, Georgian market town, Lymington (population 14,330) is situated on the southern edge of the New Forest, between Southampton and Bournemouth and at the western end of the Solent.

The town is world renown as a sailing resort but also has a number of interesting independent shops including some designer boutiques. On Saturday a market is held in the High Street.

In the summer holidays you can ride the Beach Bus from Lymington to enjoy the best of the New Forest coast and countryside with stops at popular attractions such as Exbury Gardens, the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu and Buckler’s Hard where Nelson’s navy was built. You can also enjoy great discounts with your ticket, including a free ice cream at Lepe.

4. National Motor Museum, Beaulieu

Housing a collection of over 250 automobiles and motorcycles telling the story of motoring on the roads of Britain from the dawn of motoring to the present day, the National Motor Museum appeals to all age groups. From World Land Speed Record Breakers including Campbell’s famous Bluebird to film and TV favourites including the ‘Flying’ Ford Anglia from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets which was once owned by Arthur Weasley. Don’t miss exciting extra features such as the Motorsport Gallery, Wheels and Jack Tucker's Garage.

New Forest Tour

Sit back, relax and enjoy some of the best views this summer from the open-top New Forest Tour.

It’s easy to hop on board with stops at Brockenhurst, Ashurst, New Milton, Lymington Town and Lymington Pier train stations. Choose from three scenic routes around magical landscapes, picture postcard villages and popular attractions such as Exbury Gardens and the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu. Hop on and off where you like and switch routes – all on the same ticket. You can even bring your bikes (carried free). The Tour runs hourly seven days a week throughout the summer - running from 28 June to 14 September 2014.

Brockenhurst for the New Forest
