Cycling Schemes

South West Trains recognises the many benefits of making our stations and train services cycle-friendly. Our cycle strategy is designed to encourage people to use cycles on our network by providing improved access, parking and security at stations, as well as a clear fair and sensible policy for carrying cycles on trains.

We have also worked hard to develop new cycle rental schemes at Waterloo, Richmond and Guildford stations.

Richmond Cycle Hire Scheme

The Richmond cycle hire schemes is now closed at weekends and is available upon request only until the 31st March 2012.

South West Trains is happy to receive requests from groups and organisations during this period and will look to accommodate any cycle hire requests during this period.

Waterloo Brompton Bike Scheme

This scheme has a 100 bikes available at Waterloo for hire to rail passengers and the public.

This scheme is still currently running but is under review pending the details of the proposed new Network Rail Cycle Hub facilities at Waterloo.

Guildford Brompton dock

The Brompton Dock is a new concept in flexible personal travel. The Brompton Dock is a bicycle smart store positioned at this station. It holds up to 40 bikes for registered members to take and use as they please.

Brompton bikes create a truly joined up travel system. As well as being comfortable and stylish to ride, they can be folded to go on other forms of transport and stored securely in an office, a car boot - or just about anywhere - which means no more hunting for somewhere to safely lock up your bike.

Brompton Dock is running a pilot scheme in Guildford station from the beginning of July 2011.
