Depot Driver

Depot Drivers form part of the engineering team at South West Trains and help in maintaining the highest levels of serviceability, which is crucial to maintaining our level of service to passengers.

Depot driving is a vital job, largely unsupervised, that keeps the wheels of the depot turning. It's a physically demanding role that involves constantly climbing in and out of train cabs to shunt trains around the sidings, and in and out of workshops for maintenance, cleaning, modifications, and service presentation.

Depot Drivers also carry out duties such as operating points and setting routes and work a 24/7 shift pattern.
