London to Brighton Bike Ride – Sunday 21 June- Southern Cycle Policy
On Sunday 21 June the London to Brighton Bike Ride will take place. If you think about travelling with a bicycle on this day, please note that Southern and First Capital Connect Rail Services will operate with restrictions.
You will not be able to board Southern or First Capital Connect services with a bicycle at any Southern station from the start of service until 1200 noon.
After 1200 you can board with bicycles at certain stations on our network but this does mean that even if you are not taking part in the official bike ride, you will not be able to board your return train service with your bicycle at stations in the Sussex Coast area.
For example, if you were travelling from Fishbourne to Worthing after 1200, you would be able to take your bicycle on the train for that journey, but you would not be able to board the train with your bicycle at Worthing for the return journey.
Details as follows:
From the start of service until 1200 noon, no bicycles will be permitted on any Southern or First Capital Connect Services
From 1200, bicycles will be permitted on trains in the following areas of our network:
North of Three Bridges (the Metro area)
East of Eastbourne
West of Chichester
Between the following stations, bicycles cannot be boarded on our services all day:
Between Chichester and Brighton
Between Brighton and Three Bridges
Between Brighton and Lewes/Eastbourne
Between Brighton and Seaford

Bicycles will be permitted as usual on Gatwick Express services between Gatwick and Victoria.
If you are returning with your bicycle on Southern services the following day from Brighton station, a queuing system will be in place on Monday 22 June from 0900 o
nwards. We would ask for your patience and understanding if you have to wait your turn to board during this time.
