More tickets types available from our ticket machines

Our programme to install 444 new easy-to-use machines across our network is now complete. It gives us the largest fleet of ticket vending machines of any train operating company in the country. 

In total we have invested £12m on these new ticket machines and software upgrades.

Tickets available

From our self-service machines you can buy:

• 7-Day Season Tickets renewals
• Monthly Season Ticket renewals
• Tickets with Railcard discounts
• A wide range of tickets to most UK destinations
• ‘Tickets for tomorrow’ allowing you to buy Standard Day Single and Return (peak) tickets after 15:00 the day before you intend to travel
  London Underground tickets inside London Fare Zones Area
• Day Return tickets to London, including One Day Travelcards
• Daily car park tickets

We have also started piloting pre-paid ticket collection and subject to a successful pilot, will be rolled out to our stations in the coming months. This allows you to book online or through our Customer Service Centre and then pick the tickets up from the ticket machine at the station.

Method of payment

Most of the machines accept cash and all machines accept credit and debit cards (with secure Chip and PIN payment). Where machines are installed at a station at least one machine will accept cash.

Coming soon

From the middle of next year, you will also be able to buy the following from these machines:

• Weekly car park tickets
• Combined train and admission tickets (for example tickets to THORPE PARK, Chessington World of Adventures, LEGOLAND, Hampton Court Palace, Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard). These tickets usually include a discount on the entry to the attraction.
