Most of our Class 159 trains were built in 1992 by British Rail to replace locomotive hauled services on the West of England line between Waterloo and Exeter. During 2006-7, we converted a small number of Class 158 trains we received to bring them to the same interior specification as our existing Class 159s. The refurbished trains are numbered as 159/1s.
