You can but combined rail and entry tickets from our Customer Service Centre or from any staffed train station. Make sure you buy your combined rail and entry ticket before you get to Portsmouth as the Dockyard can only sell you entry at the 'on gate' price.

Getting there

Take the train to Portsmouth Harbour, where it's a short walk to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

There are regular direct trains to Portsmouth Harbour from:

  • London Waterloo via Guildford
  • London Waterloo via Basingstoke, Eastleigh and Fareham
  • London Victoria via Gatwick Airport, Arundel and Chichester
  • Brighton
  • Cardiff via Salisbury and Southampton Central

Opening times

Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is open all year, except 24, 25 and 26 December.

April - October: From 1000, with last entry at 1630. The Dockyard closes at 1800.
November - March: From 1000, with last entry at 1600. The Dockyard closes at 1730.

 

Individual attractions may close earlier (between 1600 and 1730) and the Dockyard reserves the right to amend opening times without prior notification.
