Station improvements - January update
New ticket office at London Waterloo
Work on the refurbishment of our ticket office at London Waterloo is due to be complete in January 2009. As well as a brighter, more modern look, it will now feature a low-level, accessible counter for the benefit of our disabled passengers.
Other enhancements at the station include upgrading the lifts to the tube located at the bottom of the steps of Victory Arch—the station’s main entrance opposite the old Eurostar platforms—and at Waterloo East. The lifts will be closed until March while improvement work is carried out to make them accessible to disabled passengers. If you need assistance, please contact a member of staff at the station.
New ticket gates
If you use Southampton Central station, you may have noticed that we have installed new ticket gates. The £3.8m upgrade means greater reliability and will be a bigger deterrent for fare evaders. New ticket gates will also be up and running by early 2009 at Portsmouth & Southsea station. Work is currently under way to install them and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause passengers.
Ticket gates are also now in operation at London Waterloo, see here for details.
