Celebrations for Swaythling and Chandler's Ford
Two of our stations celebrated their birthdays last October, each commemorating a very different age.
Swaythling, built in 1883, marked its 125th anniversary, while the much younger Chandler’s Ford toasted its 5th birthday.
The original Chandler’s Ford station was demolished in the 1960s and the new building was opened in 2003. A number of events were held at both stations for the occasion including guided walks, local history quizzes, wildlife photo and history exhibitions, a school art competition and mayoral visits from both Southampton City Council and Eastleigh Borough Council.
