Leaf Fall Timetables
From late September we have to make alterations on some routes because of problems caused by leaf fall. Fallen leaves are crushed by passing trains, creating a slippery film which coats the rails. This means that our drivers have to approach stations more slowly than normal and trains pull away from station stops more slowly than normal. Network Rail runs special rail cleaning trains but these can only reduce, not completely eliminate, this problem.
On long distance main line routes from Weymouth, Portsmouth and the West of England to London Waterloo, alterations are mostly to some early morning trains which will run earlier than normal for part of their journey. These are shown in green type in the current timetables and the notes show the alterations to train times.
The folllowing Suburban routes have alterations to train services throughout the day and the altered timetables can be downloaded from the links below.
These timetables start from 26 September 2010. Until this time, please use the current timetables.
Note: Please check for any changes to train times before using weekend, late night or early morning services. Train services can also be altered on public holidays.
