150 new car parking spaces at Wokingham station

Passengers travelling from Wokingham station will benefit from additional car parking as work to increase the number of spaces by 150 has now been completed by South West Trains.

An official opening of the new spaces was held on Friday 26 June with local MP, John Redwood and Ian Johnston, Customer Service Director of South West Trains.

At the official opening Ian Johnston, Customer Service Director for South West Trains said:

“The additional spaces are great news for passengers travelling from Wokingham station.  The integration of car and train travel is becoming more and more popular so extra space for car parking is a welcome addition to the station’s facilities.

MP for Wokingham, The Rt Hon John Redwood said:

"I welcome improvements to Wokingham Station car park. We need to make rail travel easier and better for people. This will help."

In addition to the new spaces, there is increased CCTV to provide additional security, along with better lighting throughout the car park.    The new spaces have been created by re-modelling of the existing car park and some minor infrastructure works.

The work at Wokingham is part of South West Trains commitment to a £20 million car park expansion programme to provide improved facilities and at least 2,000 extra car parking spaces across the network.
