South West Trains will run additional services to help businesses, residents and visitors in Dorset and Somerset to beat the roadworks on the A30 which are due to start next week.
The A30 will be closed for nearly a month at Sherborne to allow important roadworks to take place. Starting Tuesday 31 May, South West Trains will run four additional trains every weekday to provide extra options for those who need to travel in this area.
The additional services are part of ongoing investment by South West Trains in this part of the network, including:
Chris Loder, Head of Service Strategy at South West Trains, said: “We’re providing four additional trains each weekday to help businesses and communities while the A30 is closed at Sherborne. Our stations are in close proximity to the A30 and with these additional services, we hope to offer an alternative to those who are affected by the road closure.
“This is in addition to the regular services we already offer and builds on the significant investment provided recently for passengers in Dorset and Somerset; including free WiFi on trains, summer special services to Dorchester and Weymouth and a new Community Rail Partnership.
"We hope the extra services will help to provide more travel options for passengers during the roadworks and show how easy and convenient travelling with South West Trains is."
Passengers are advised to check online for details of the additional services before travelling.
