Have a special family day out for under £30 chevron-down

Have a great day out in London when you travel by train with your family*. We’ve put together a £30 or under itinerary** in thriving South Kensington to keep the kids occupied, and learn something along the way!

South Kensington is rich with activities and sights, featuring three of London’s finest free-entry Museums, nearby parkland and cafes and bookshops galore.
The Science Museum is free to enter and filled with interactive exhibits, including the world’s first bionic man. Make the most of the trip with 2FOR1 Legend of Apollo 4D to experience an Apollo mission then view the real Apollo 10 Command Module in the Making the Modern World Gallery (displaying 150 significant items created from 1750-2000).

Keep up the adrenaline rush and try 2FOR1 IMAX 3D Cinema, featuring a screen taller than four double decker buses: plunge into the ocean, journey into space or get up close to baby orangutans and elephants.

The Natural History Museum is just five minutes from the Science Museum. See the famous dinosaur collection, including the iconic diplodocus towering over everybody in the main entrance hall. With over 70 million items in the collections, there’s more than one day’s worth of sights on show. The new Treasures Gallery hosts 22 objects specially chosen for their importance, including a dodo skeleton and the earliest surviving meteorite seen to land in the UK, in 1795.

Take a break from all of the culture and walk along to Hyde Park, the largest of London’s central parks. Enjoy the Rose Garden, walk around the Serpentine and savour sitting on the grass while you watch the kids run around before the journey home.

Enjoy a family day out for under £50 chevron-down

Have a great value day out in London with your family* when you travel by train. We’ve put together a £50 or under itinerary** in the Blackfriars and Southbank area to keep you all entertained, amused and well-fed.

Start your day out at 2FOR1 St Paul’s Cathedral, the second largest church in the UK. The cathedral is a masterpiece of classic design; it emerged unscathed from the Blitz, and is one of London’s most recognisable landmarks. Explore the crypt (hosting Nelson’s and Wellington’s tombs), try out the acoustic wonders of the Whispering Gallery, and be amazed at panoramic view of the city from the Golden Gallery.

From St Paul’s, cross the Millennium Bridge to the Southbank, the centuries-old location for the theatres and much rowdiness. Next to the Millennium Bridge is the Tate Modern, a vast redbrick building, originally Bankside Power Station. There are paid-for and free exhibitions within and the epic Turbine Hall hosts free, interactive installations.

Walk towards Waterloo from the Tate and pop into the Oxo Tower, which now hosts many creative and crafty shops. You may notice the gothic-looking lampposts as you walk; the fearsome toothed sea creatures are dolphins dating back to 1870, and were a noted tourist attraction in Victorian times.

You’ll also pass the Globe Theatre, a modern reconstruction of the 1600s original, and a fascinating sight with its black timbered walls and thatched roof among the modern constructions. As you near County Hall and Waterloo, your path will be thronged with street performers, from dance troupes to puppetry.

All of this walking and sightseeing should have built up an appetite, so try 2FOR1 Azzurro Italian Restaurant (near Waterloo). If you’re still hungry for sights and sounds, you’re only a bridge away from Trafalgar Square, if you fancy visiting the lions!

Enjoy London with your partner for £30 chevron-down

Have a great day out together when you travel by train to the capital. We’ve put together an itinerary for your day for under £30* by selecting some 2FOR1 offers when you travel by train.

2FOR1 KPMG Thames Clippers are a great way to traverse London, using the original transport system, the River Thames. You’ll see the sights from a fresh perspective, without the hustle and bustle of the underground or bus - it’s also far less difficult to miss your ‘stop’!
We’ve based this itinerary on the ‘Tate to Tate’ route available, it’s up to you where you start and finish.

Take a constitutional stroll around Battersea Park, an often-forgotten gem and felt by many to be the most interesting inner-city park in London. Enjoy the picturesque promenades and wildlife (including herons, cormorants and glebes) and make a trip to the Peace Pagoda, a Japanese Buddhist monument constructed to inspire peace, a gorgeous vision of red and gold among the soothing green surroundings.

Wander around the boating lake and visit the Pump House Gallery (free entry), housed in a four-storey Grade 1 Listed Victorian tower on the lakeside.

Board the 2FOR1 KPMG Thames Clipper at St George Wharf, Vauxhall, and travel to Millbank Pier and Tate Britain, which houses a collection of British art from 1500 to the present day. Artists in the collection include Turner, Constable and Gainsborough (free admission, some exhibitions require paid entry).

Back onto the Clipper, and enjoy the view as you pass the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben (strictly speaking, this is the name of the bell itself, not the clock tower!) and disembark at Embankment. Southbank is rich with culture and sights and is home to the restored Globe Theatre, a vision of timber and thatch based on the original Tudor building destroyed in 1613. Visit 2FOR1 Shakespeare’s Globe Exhibition and Tour, which includes a fascinating tour of the extraordinary theatre.

Lose yourselves in London for under £50 chevron-down

Make the most of a day in London when you travel by train with our itinerary for two for under £50*

We’ve selected some of the 2FOR1 offers available when you travel by train in and around Covent Garden.

From Waterloo, cross the river via Hungerford Bridge and walk past Embankment to Trafalgar Square to peer up at Nelson’s Column, pose alongside the lions and appreciate the latest installation on the fourth plinth. Visit 2FOR1 Bailey's Stardust at The National Portrait Gallery, an exhibition of portraits by one of the world's most distinguished photographers, David Bailey. Other free exhibitions are available inside the Gallery, ranging from classic oil portraits to contemporary art projects.

Covent Garden is around the corner: soak up the local atmosphere, including the specially selected street performers (there are annual auditions for the privilege of performing here!) and browse in the bustling market: sometimes you’ll see an ad-hoc recital from the nearby English National Opera.

All of this culture induces hunger, so visit 2FOR1 Covent Garden Grill (excludes steak) and eat from the a la carte menu, or try 2FOR1 Boulevard Brasserie, serving classic French brasserie dishes.

What better way to end the day then by sitting back and relaxing on an open top double decker bus whilst watching famous London landmarks pass you by. 2FOR1 See London by night and stare in awe at the majestic Tower of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral and Big Ben lit up in the night sky – plus there are so many more major attractions included in the tour. The tour takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and departs at 19.30 and 21.20 daily.
