Save up to 34% on your train fare

There are plenty of ways for travellers to save money on our network, including a range of national railcards. Regular commuters, mature adventurers and student travellers can all save big with our yearly or three-yearly rail cards. Railcards can save you up to 34% on your train fare, and give you a discount on a range of other transports including travel in London, PLUSBUS, ferry services and Rangers & Rovers. The best thing about railcards is that you can usually pay back their cost in savings from just one trip! There really is nothing like a good deal. See below for a list of all of current national rail cards, so that you can start saving and travelling for less.

16 - 25 Railcard

The 16-25 Railcard gives younger travellers and students a fantastic deal on rail tickets, and is great way to cut down on transport costs. Plus, less money spent on train tickets means more money to spend on stationery or books and all that important stuff.

Senior Railcard

You’re never too old to explore the best sights and locations in Britain, and a Senior Railcard will make it a little easier to do just that. Take a nice chunk off the price with our Senior Railcard and get where you want to go for less.

Network Railcard

A regular traveller within the National Railcard area? Get a Network Railcard and save big on travel within these routes. With popular stations in Portsmouth, Guildford and London all included on the Network Railcard route, it can be a great way of getting where you want to be, for less. Find out more.

There is nothing quite like travelling with the family. The Family & Friends Railcard makes it easier to get everyone from A to B, and means you can get right back to making memories. Not only does it mean that big groups can make big savings, but having two named holders meaning that parents can swap out responsibilities if you want some much needed rest!

16 - 25 Railcard chevron-down
  1. Eligibility: Anyone aged 16-25, or people over 26 who are in full time education.
  2. Cost: £30 per year/ £70 for three years.
  3. The discount: Cardholders can save 34% on tickets.
  4. Discounted tickets: Anytime, Off-peak, and Super Off-peak tickets in standard class and first class advance tickets are all included
  5. Restrictions: If you start your journey between 0430 and 0959 Monday to Friday, a £12.00 minimum fare will apply.The minimum fare does not apply to Advance fares, or travel at weekends, public holidays or any day in July and August.

  1. Who is eligible: Anyone aged 60 or over.
  2. Cost: £30 per year/ £70 for three years.
  3. The discount: Cardholders can save 34% on tickets
  4. Discounted tickets: Anytime, Off-peak, Super Off-peak and Advance tickets in Standard and First Class are all included
  5. Restrictions: If you are travelling Monday to Friday and your journey is wholly within the Network Railcard area, a discount is only available when Off Peak Day tickets are valid for your journey. The railcard can be used at any time at weekends and public holidays. Please use our journey planner to check whether you can get a discount for your journey.

Senior Railcard terms and conditions.

  1. Who is eligible: Any adult (aged 16+).
  2. Cost: £30 per year.
  3. The discount: Cardholders can save 34% on adult tickets and 60% on child tickets. You can get a discount on up to four adult and four child tickets.
  4. Discounted tickets: Anytime, Off-peak, and Super Off-peak tickets in Standard class are all included.
  5. Restrictions: Valid for journeys starting at 1000, or later Monday to Friday. A £13.00 minimum fare will apply to each adult ticket. The minimum fare does not apply at weekends or public holidays. You can get a railcard discount on a limited number of services before 1000, as listed here.

Network Railcard terms and conditions.

  2. Cost: £20 for one year/ £54 for three years.
  3. The discount: Disabled travellers can save 34% on train tickets for themselves and an accompanying adult.
  4. Discounted tickets: Anytime, Off-peak, Super Off-peak and Advance in both Standard and First Class.
  5. Restrictions: Railcard can be used at any time - no restrictions apply

Disabled Persons Railcard terms and conditions.

Two Together Railcard chevron-down
  1. Who is eligible: Any adult (aged 16+).
  2. Cost: £30 per year, or £15 each if you are both playing fair!
  3. The discount: Two named cardholders can travel together and get 34% discount on rail travel.
  4. Discounted tickets: Standard Class: Anytime, Off Peak, Super Off Peak and Advance in both standard and first class.
  5. Restrictions: If you start your journey between 0430 and 0930 Monday to Friday, the Two Together Railcard is not valid. The two named cardholders must travel together for the entire journey for their discounted tickets to be valid.

Family & Friends Railcard chevron-down
  1. Who is eligible: Any adult (aged 16+). One adult must travel with at least one child.
  2. Cost: £30 per year/ £70 for three years.
  3. The discount: Cardholders can save 34% on adult tickets and 60% on child tickets. The discount applies for up to four adults and four child tickets (including the card holder) and can have two named cardholders.
  4. Discounted tickets: Anytime, Off Peak, and Super Off Peak tickets in standard class are all included.
  5. Restrictions: If you are travelling Monday to Friday and your journey is wholly within the Network Railcard area, a discount is only available when an Off Peak tickets are valid for your journey.The railcard can be used at any time at weekends and public holidays. Please use our journey planner to check whether you can get a discount for your journey.
