    Ticket types 

    Advance fares 

    Advance tickets or fares offer great value for money on long distance journeys when you book ahead of your travel date. These tickets are one-way, with the option to create your own combination of Advance tickets for a return journey. They are only valid on your chosen date and time of travel, and are non-refundable. Fares start from as little as £9.10.

    Super Off-Peak

    Super Off-Peak tickets offer the biggest savings over full priced fares, for those who travel at the quietest times of the day. If you are flexible with your travel times then Super Off-Peak tickets are a great way to save money and enjoy a quieter train journey. These tickets do have some time restrictions, requiring you to travel at specific times of the day, or on specific days of the week.

    Off-peak

    Off-peak tickets allow you to make great savings for travelling on quieter trains, at less busy times of the day. You can buy Off-peak tickets at any time before you travel. These fares require you to travel outside of rush hour, with some restrictions.

    Anytime

    Anytime tickets offer full flexibility, so you can travel at any time of the day, Monday to Sunday. You can buy in advance, or on the day you travel.

    Ticket validity 

    Advance chevron-down

    This ticket has no flexibility in travel times and you must travel on your booked service(s).

    Advance tickets go on sale up to 12 weeks before your date of travel and must be booked by 23:59 on the day before travel. The availability of our lowest fares will vary by time of day and day of week, and is not available on every service.

    Super Off-Peak - Weekdays chevron-down

    Here is a summary of when you can use your Super Off Peak ticket on weekdays. You may be able to travel earlier than shown below, so please check when you can travel with a journey planner.
    Travel towards London Waterloo:

    • Not valid on trains arriving into London Waterloo and any station in London Zones 1-6 between 04:30 and 11:59.

    Travel from London Waterloo:

    • Not valid if you board a train departing London Waterloo between 16:00 and 19:00; Vauxhall between 16:04 and 19:04; Clapham Junction between 16:07 and 19:09.

    If you have Super Off Peak Day Travelcard, the restrictions above do not apply if you are travelling wholly within the London Zones 1-6 area.
    Non-London journeys:

    • Not valid on trains departing between 04:30 and 10:59.

    Here is a summary of when you can use your Super Off Peak ticket at weekends and public holidays. You may be able to travel earlier than shown below, so please check when you can travel with a journey planner.
    Travel towards London Waterloo:

    • Not valid on trains arriving into London Waterloo and any station in London Zones 1-6 between 09:31 and 11:59.

    Travel from London Waterloo:

    • Not valid if you board a train departing London Waterloo between 04:30 and 10:59 or 16:00 and 18:30; Vauxhall between 04:30 and 11:05 or 16:03 and 18:35; Clapham Junction between 04:30 and 11:05 or 16:09 and 18:40.
    • If you have Super Off Peak Day Travelcard, the restrictions above do not apply if you are travelling wholly within the London Zones 1-6 area.

    Non-London journeys:

    • Not valid on trains departing between 04:30 and 10:59.

    Are you travelling from or to a station along one of the following lines of route?

    • West of England: Tisbury – Exeter St Davids; Warminster – Bristol Temple Meads; Westbury - Yeovil
    • South Western Mainline: Brockenhurst – Weymouth/Lymington

    If so, your Super Off Peak ticket is valid for travel at any time and the time restrictions above won’t apply to your journey! (Please note that you cannot break your journey if you travel to, from, or via a station outside of the lines or route above, for example Bournemouth – London Waterloo.)

    Here is a summary of when you can use your Off Peak ticket, Monday to Friday. You may be able to travel earlier than shown below, so please check when you can travel with a journey planner.
    Travel towards London Waterloo:

    • Not valid on trains arriving into London Waterloo and any station in London Zones 1-6 between 04:30 and 09:59.

    Travel from London Waterloo:

    • Not valid if you board a train departing London Waterloo between 04:30 and 08:59.
    • In addition, First Class Off Peak tickets are not valid if you board a train at: London Waterloo or Victoria between 16:00 and 19:00; Vauxhall between 16:04 and 19:04; Clapham Junction between 16:07 and 19:09.

    Non-London journeys:

    Off Peak tickets are valid for travel at any time at weekends and public holidays.

    Anytime chevron-down

    Just like the ticket name, these tickets are valid for travel at any time of day.
